The textbook represents the first comprehensive text in structural geology in a scandinavian language (and the first one in color ever).
It contains 20 chapters, arranged into 4 parts. Part I contains an introduction to structural geology and goes through the basic theory related to stress, strain and rock mechanics. Part II is concerned with brittle deformation, with a major chapter dedicated to faults. Part III treats plastic deformation, including folds, foliations, lineations, boudins and shear zones Part IV covers different tectonic regimes (contraction, extension, strike-slip and transpression/tension) and related structures. A chapter on restoration and balancing concludes this part and the book. |
