This directory contains detailed world maps from USGS
and a few other maps, all in SEISAN map format except the imgmap

The names of the detailed USGS maps are (uncompressed):

AMER_BO.MAP
ASIA_BO.MAP
ASIA_CO.MAP
ASIA_RI.MAP
EURO_BO.MAP
EURO_CO.MAP
EURO_RI.MAP
NAME_BO.MAP
NAME_CO.MAP
NAME_RI.MAP
SOAM_CO.MAP
SOAM_RI.MAP
WORLD_HIGH.MAP

Most USGS map names are composed of two codes: 

AMER: North and South America
EURO: Europe + Africa + coast of Asia
ASIA: Asia
NAME: North America
SOAM: South America

BO: Boundaries
CO: Coasts
RI: Rivers

In addtion there is

AFRICA.MAP:  Africa with political boundaries, less detailed

Africa more detailed but without political boundaries is also found in 
Europe maps. Australia is in Asia maps.

WORLD_HIGH.MAP is all maps together


Part of the map files can be selected out with SEISAN program selmap.

In addtion to the above files, there is also 

imgmap.tar.gz

which is a detaled world map in pixel format. The files are untarred in 
DAT directory to make a subdirectory of DAT called IMGMAP. The files 
are used with JSEISAN
