1. Overview

The Offline system is a dual-boot DOS/Linux PC. The DOS partition (only 410 MByte) is used to connect to Geometrics and transfer data via Interlink parallel cable. The Linux partition holds Seismic Unix that can be used for viewing or processing of data.

2. DOS partition

It's running DOS 6.22 with Norton Commander. That's all that's needed.

Have added Kermit for DOS, if this can run on the Geometrics side and Kermit for Linux on the Linux side there would not be need for a separate DOS partition on this PC. Lap-link style serial cable should also be around. There wasn't time to test this before the shipping deadline. Just waiting for an enterprising soul on ODEN ..

3. Linux partition

• FTP server: NcFTPd from http://www.ncftp.com.
  If it should be re-installed: *.tar.gz is in /home/olem on the Linux box (can also be downloaded); click  here for installation instructions. Programs are installed in  /usr/local/sbin and the configuration files are installed into /usr/local/etc/ncftpd. It's configured not to allow anonymous login. Time-out is set to 15 min. Restart the server by typing  /usr/local/sbin/restart_ncftpd after reconfiguration.
