TERMINATION OF WLAN RP-SMA CONNECTORS


INTRODUCTION


We tried to solder the RP-SMA socket center onto the RG58 coax cable (shown below). Unfortunately, the center socket was crushed the first time the cable was connected to the WLAN AP.


RP-SMA connectors: Antenna extension cable to WLAN AP.

RP-SMA connectors: Antanna side.



ANTENNA RG-58 EXTENSION CABLE


The following components are needed to make antenna extension cable of RG-58 type.

Connector that matches antenna


  1. RP-SMA connector with outside threading and pin center, for RG-58C/U ΓΈ 4,95 mm coax cable:
    ELFA P/N: 46-451-80
    Termination details:
  • Crimpning shield: 5,41 mm
  • Crimpning center conductor: 1,32 mm
  • A:13.1 B:2.5 C:8.3

Connector that matches WLAN Access Point


RP-SMA connector with inside threading and socket center, for RG-58 coax cable:

Two alternatives:

  1. Mouser P/N : 712-CONREVSMA007-R58



  1. ELFA P/N: 46-451-49
    Termination details:
    • Crimpning shield: 5,41 mm
    • Termination Style: Solder
    • A:12 B:2 C:8.3
