LOGGING NAVIGATION AND GRAVITY DATA ON EXTERNAL COMPUTER

Merging of navigation and gravity data on an external computer uses gravity data from COM2 on gravity PC. The gravitymeter PC COM2 port will transmit data every 10 seconds, assuming MARINE MODE is selected. The external computer should time- and position stamp these data as soon as they arrive.

COM2 serial data, in SERIAL SHORT FORMAT, look like this:

   LINE-10 2005 139 16:58:30 12947.98

Parameters are:

  • Line ID
  • Year
  • Day of year
  • Time (PC clock)
  • Gravity

The external logging computer inserts nav data in front of gravity data, and the result is (SPACE used as field separator):

   22.08.2002 16:53:22 309160.1 8412025.1 075°41.522220' -03°55.961593' 046.7 5.4 3080.0 LINE-10 2005 139 16:58:30 12947.98

Navigation system parameters are:

  • Date
  • Time (UTC)
  • Easting [m]
  • Northing [m]
  • Latitude (can use another degree symbol)
  • Longitude (can use another degree symbol)
  • Gyro (ship's course) [deg]
  • Speed [kt]
  • Depth [m]
